I submitted this in 2010 on my old account. I've since seen my dragon's head traced/copied, and I'm not angry or anything, those that I know of have credited me, but I hope that for future instances I will also be credited, I mean, if it's more than just inspiration and someone directly wants to use an element I put into an actual work I did: It's not just the pose, but the scale, angle and basically all the features of the head that are clearly traced. I know this is fanart, but please credit me if you use this, I won't bite!
The gear is messed up. I know the metal shouldn't be exposed to air or hide, especially considering the possibility of going between a lot. I guess this is just weyrling training straps, lol.
I've formulated a new strap design since doing this. There's also a few mistakes. I was still green with the usage of GIMP at the time.
This is fan art based on the works of fiction by Anne McCaffrey, her Dragonriders of Pern series.
If you borrow this for your fan weyr, please credit and link to artist, thank you!
Well... really wanted to do a background, but BLAH. lost patience again as soon as I started arguing with the color of the ground cause I don't want the bronze to disappear on dirt! And grass sounds like a pain.... LOL
Rider's jacket should have buttons and a buckle to close it. Pants pockets need adjusting too. The straps are in prototype phase... I have this picture in layers so I can redo the straps easily. ...OMG forgot to texture his left sleeve! hahaha
Ty! Purple is very complementary to earth tones and it happens to be my favorite mood-color, but I love those dirty golds and olives. Normally, I see Pern's atmosphere with a green cast, and I'm rather fond of the alien look it gives the dragons. I paint my Pern dragons void of any red pigments so purple and other warm colors are a good choice for contrast, but I put the realistic physics of the setting first if I'm depicting a pre-established scene from an rp. I have seen purple used to great dramatic effect with Pernese dragons, and once when doing a sunset I was happy I had an excuse to use the lighting, but my comp crashed in the middle of a save and corrupted the only file! Poooo! LOL.
Nooooooo..... I hate when that happens - lost so many things from spontaneous brown outs and lag crashes. look forward to more of your Pernese dragons - dramatic or alien lighting included XD
Hey, I saw this once before! A friend of mine on a RP Forum I'm on showed us this pic for when we were starting a Pern RP! I thought it looked awesome, and it still does! Cool job!
Love this! All the little details are amazing ^_^ Yeah sadly I know I've seen this copied before, can't remember where but if I see it I'll let you know.
purple is a good shadow color for bronze so it doesn't look like muddy gold.
I did a few of my own Pern dragons, but this is way better.
